DIY Homemade hair-spa| Unusual hair conditioners

Long hair

Here are a few homemade hair spa ideas, as I had promised earlier in my previous blog on Salon hair spa treatments. Hair Spa is an excellent option for hair care. It conditions and moisturises hair without destroying it. Hair Spa is an excellent hair care treatment for those with unusually damaged hair and even those who want to maintain their hair in general. However, regularly going to a hair spa can be expensive and isn't affordable to most college girls who get pocket money. There is no need to fear as I have a few homemade alternatives.

Here are a few homemade DIY hair-care ideas that one could easily do at home within minutes. The natural ingredients we have in our home can be quite beneficial to our hair. Firstly, it is absolutely natural, so you don't have to worry about harmful chemicals and sulphates. Secondly, most of the ingredients are pretty affordable and eco-friendly.

Women have used natural homemade products for centuries to enhance their natural beauty. However, it's time we go back to our roots with a twist.

Wavy hair

The products that I suggest are not your everyday usual hair care products. You undoubtedly use these products at home however, you never imagined using them on your head. I hope to shock you with these hair care ideas. If you have heard about it, do mention it in the comments. I would love to know πŸ˜ƒ

Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise for hair

Mayonnaise is used for sandwiches πŸ₯ͺ and not for hair Des, you might say, but hear me out. Mayonnaise is made with eggs and oil. I have seen it being made myself. After watching that, I would rather have it on my head than in my stomach (Absolutely unhealthy, but delicious). The oils help to condition your hair as most oils do. It adds shine to dry, dull hair. It acts as a moisturiser for the hair. Leave the mayonnaise mask in your hair for half an hour and wash it off with a fragrant shampoo (if you don't want to smell like a tuna sandwich).

Mayonnaise helps nourish the scalp, defines curls, maintains coloured hair and much more. Mayonnaise has many excellent hair benefits.

Tip: Add vinegar and almond oil to your mayonnaise conditioner to get rid of lice (you're welcome).

Baking Soda

I'm not asking you to bake your hair. We are not preparing a cake. Yes, baking soda can be used to condition hair, too. It works perfectly as a hair spa alternative to make your hair incredibly soft (reminded you of the cake, didn't it?)

Baking soda removes impurities present in the hair. It cleans your scalp just like a regular hair spa treatment would.

Put one teaspoon of baking soda in a 16oz bottle of water. Make sure you dilute it properly for great results. Click here for more information on baking soda. After applying the mixture to your hair, cover it with a shower cap and wrap it all up with a nice hot towel to pack all the moisture in. Let it sit for about half an hour, and wash off your hair. Your head will be squeaky clean.

Beer

Beer for hair

It's better on your head than in your stomach. Next time you go to a party, and your hair is messy, just pop open a can and pour some in your hair πŸ˜‚ jk.

Beer is actually great for your hair. It makes your hair incredibly soft and smooth. It gives your hair incredible shine and lustre. "Because beer is rich in proteins and vitamins, through the natural barley and hops, it does contain nutrients for helping to develop healthy hair," explains Dr. Ryan Welter, a Massachusetts-based hair restoration surgeon.

Beer is fermented and contains yeast. Yeast helps to make your hair soft and smooth.

Take some beer and let it sit for a day. The beer needs to be flat before using it. Then, just pour in some beer or spay it with a spray can and wash off your hair with a fragrant shampoo. Wash your hair well, as you don't want to be caught for drinking and driving when all you wanted was a great hair day.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is great for dandruff. It stops the itchiness from the scalp. Apple cider vinegar moisturises the hair cuticles, making them soft and manageable.

Mix 2 tablespoons vinegar with 1 cup of water and rub it in your hair. Keep it in your hair for some time, and wash it out. Be careful not to put too much vinegar, and don't forget to mix it with water.

Yoghurt

Yoghurt is not only delicious in your mouth but is also beneficial to your hair. The protein and lactic acid present in yoghurt help keep the scalp clean and moisturised. I have personally loved putting yoghurt in my hair. It makes my hair so soft and silky. I couldn't help but touch my hair constantly. It's a brilliant hair moisturiser.

Mix some yoghurt, olive oil and honey with a banana and let it sit in the fridge for some time. Apply the mixture to your hair and leave it for half an hour. You can read more on yoghurt here.

Banana

Banana for hair

Finally, a fruit. This one is for all you minions out there. Banana has vitamin B, C and E. These vitamins are great for the scalp skin, and hair. When massaged into the scalp, the soft banana softens damaged hair and gives dull hair life. The wonderful banana stops hair from breakage and split ends. You can use the banana with the recipe above for smooth and silky hair.

Avocado πŸ₯‘

This is a hair mask of the rich. An expensive fruit not only used to eat but also for the hair.

Smash up an avocado and drizzle some olive oil. Put the mixture in your hair for some deep penetrating moisture in your scalp and hair. Wash off your hair to see the brilliant results.

Coconut Milk

Coconut for hair

Coconut milk, like the banana, is rich in vitamins B, C and E. These vitamins help maintain hair health. The coconut milk is lightweight and doesn't weigh your hair down while moisturising it. Coconut milk is readily available in many shops. "Coconut milk  has a high protein profile that can potentially keep your hair strong."

I hope you found these hair spa/hair-conditioning tips insightful and amusing. These ingredients are unusual yet very effective in treating your hair problems. Here are a few solutions to your hair problems that you can easily afford. So don't give hair care an excuse; make it a priority.
